Who we are

We are the General Teaching Council for Scotland. We register and regulate the teaching profession as a safeguard for the quality of education in Scotland. We work to maintain and enhance trust in teaching. We are a statutory body meaning our role is set out in law – we are independent of government.

We are governed by a council of 37 members.

What we are looking for

We are looking to appoint 2 lay people to serve on our Council.

Note: As a lay person applicant, you must not be, nor have ever been, registered with GTC Scotland; and not hold a qualification that would make you eligible for registration with GTC Scotland.
